Current mood:distressed
On October 20th I posted a blog about a bridge in Seattle and the potential of making it 'suicide resistant.' This is a subject near & dear to me as a young (15 y/o) friend of our family jumped from the bridge several years ago.
This comes up again today because they had a jumper this morning. One person who was particularly close to our friend happened to be there when it happened. How awful for this young person to have to witness that and relive the experience of her close friend's death. I hurt for her and for all of us.
In reading the article it appears that this jump was a morning jump which disrupted traffic for several hours. I suppose the personal inconvenience of all those commuters will be more powerful in getting the fence put up on the bridge than the actual loss of lives. Go figure.
Jumper dies
Another Jumper, Fence Needed?
